India’s musical legacy is truly going global, as six talented Indian-origin artists have been nominated for the 67th Grammy Awards. The nominations highlight a blend of classical roots, global influences, and innovative sounds.

Ricky Kej

Bengaluru’s own Ricky Kej, known for his environmentally conscious music, has scored his fourth Grammy nomination. This time, it’s for his album Break of Dawn in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category. Kej, already a three-time Grammy winner, has previously earned acclaim for albums like Winds of Samsara and Divine Tides.

Anoushka Shankar

Renowned sitarist Anoushka Shankar received two nominations this year, for Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category, and her collaboration with Jacob Collier on A Rock Somewhere in the Best Global Music Performance category. Known for blending classical Indian music with global sounds, Anoushka is now a ten-time Grammy nominee.

Radhika Vekaria

UK-based artist Radhika Vekaria’s Warriors of Light album is competing for Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album. The album showcases her vocal versatility across multiple languages, including Sanskrit, Hindi, and Tamil, reflecting her diverse roots.

Chandrika Tandon

Chennai-born musician Chandrika Tandon has been nominated for her album Triveni, created in collaboration with flutist Wouter Kellerman and cellist Éru Matsumoto, in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category.

Varijashree Venugopal

Bengaluru’s Varijashree Venugopal, a vocalist and flautist, received her first Grammy nomination for her work with Anoushka Shankar on A Rock Somewhere, under the Best Global Music Performance category.

Noshir Mody

Mumbai-born jazz guitarist Noshir Mody is nominated in the Best Global Music Performance category for Kashira, collaborating with Masa Takumi, Ron Korb, and Dale Edward Chung.

These nominations spotlight India’s rich musical heritage and its growing influence worldwide, as Indian artists continue to share their passion and artistry on a global stage.
